As many open source projects have started doing it, we're removing the
current year from the copyright notice, so that we don't need to bump
it every year.
It seems like only the first year of publication is technically
relevant for copyright notices, and even that seems to be something
that many companies stopped listing altogether (in a version controlled
codebase, the commits are a much better source of date of publication
than a hardcoded copyright statement).
We also now list Godot Engine contributors first as we're collectively
the current maintainers of the project, and we clarify that the
"exclusive" copyright of the co-founders covers the timespan before
opensourcing (their further contributions are included as part of Godot
Engine contributors).
Also fixed "cf." Frenchism - it's meant as "refer to / see".
Backported from #70885.
References to "idle time" are progressively being replaced by
"process time" throughout the engine to avoid confusion.
This also changes some debug prints to be printed only when verbose
mode is enabled (like in `master`).
Extra:
- Optimized the debug-only check about why the object is null to determine if it's because it has been deleted (the RC is enough; no need to check the ObjectDB).
- Because of the previous point. the debugger being attached is not required anymore for giving the "Object was deleted" error; from now, it only matters that it's a debug build.
- `is_instance_valid()` is now trustworthy. It will return `true` if, and only if, the last object assigned to a `Variant` is still alive (and not if a new object happened to be created at the same memory address of the old one).
- Replacements of `instance_validate()` are used where possible `Variant::is_invalid_object()` is introduced to help with that. (GDScript's `is_instance_valid()` is good.)
- Based on C++11's `mutex`
- No more need to allocate-deallocate or check for null
- No pointer anymore, just a member variable
- Platform-specific implementations no longer needed
- Simpler for `NO_THREADS`
- `BinaryMutex` added for special cases as the non-recursive version
- `MutexLock` now takes a reference. At this point the cases of null `Mutex`es are rare. If you ever need that, just don't use `MutexLock`.
- `ScopedMutexLock` is dropped and replaced by `MutexLock`, because they were pretty much the same.

2020 has been a tough year for most of us personally, but a good year for
Godot development nonetheless with a huge amount of work done towards Godot
4.0 and great improvements backported to the long-lived 3.2 branch.
We've had close to 400 contributors to engine code this year, authoring near
7,000 commit! (And that's only for the `master` branch and for the engine code,
there's a lot more when counting docs, demos and other first-party repos.)
Here's to a great year 2021 for all Godot users 🎆

This is a revert of 9d78274e06, which was an attempt to fix#21431, but in the end it seems a different problem was the root of the issue.
Renewing focus steal allowance every time is needed on Windows.
The specific case for object reference seems unnecessary, as `RES res = var`
already does the work. The case where REF is invalid is never hit in the case
of already freed objects.
The assignment `res = *r` was causing the resource to be always invalidated
on the 3.2 branch.

We're starting a new decade with a well-established, non-profit, free
and open source game engine, and tons of further improvements in the
pipeline from hundreds of contributors.
Godot will keep getting better, and we're looking forward to all the
games that the community will keep developing and releasing with it.
Implemented uniform API in Viewport class to override 2D and/or
3D camera.
Added buttons in 2D and 3D editor viewport toolbars that override
the running game camera transform with the editor viewport camera
transform. Implemented via remote debugger protocol and camera
override API.
Removed LiveEditFuncs function pointers from ScriptDebugger class.
Since the debugger got access to the SceneTree instance (if one
exists), there is no need to store the function pointers. The live
edit functions in SceneTree are used directly instead. Also removed
the static version of live edit functions in SceneTree for the same
reason. This reduced the SceneTree -> Debugger coupling too since
the function pointers don't need to be set from SceneTree anymore.
Moved script_debugger_remote.h/cpp from 'core/' to 'scene/debugger/'.
This is because the remote debugger is now using SceneTree directly
and 'core/' classes should not depend on 'scene/' classes.
