Fixes a regression from #77123 that was caused by removal of ibm_diffs variable.
This replaced idempotent code with code that applied an offset each time.
If the same Skin was visited multiple times, this caused an incorrect result.
Previously, an EditorInspector's property name can only be set from
outside. Inspectors used for settings needs to respond to changes in
editor settings. So a few boilerplate code is almost always needed,
including watching for a certain editor setting in `_notification()`.
This commit adds a `set_use_settings_style()` function to tell the
inspector to watch for editor settings changes on its own.
Also start organizing editor-specific GUI components
into a dedicated folder, `editor/gui`.
Also move `editor_file_server` next to the rest of debugger classes.
* Make placeholder in editor layout dialog translatable.
* Make messages in scene import settings dialog translatable.
* Mark theme override property categories for translation.
Implements create_convex_shape in ImpoterMesh.
Note: ImporterMeshInstance3D::get_mesh() is safe.
The only dangerous function with side effects is ImpoterMesh::get_mesh()
Solves incorrect defaults, as well as applied scale failing to apply.
The default values are removed, and they differ from collision shape defaults
These values must match the defaults defined in resource_importer_scene.cpp
* Description of `ui_text_submit` action should be "Submit Text" instead of "Text Submitted".
* Spell out "Animation" instead of using "Anim.".
* Treat "Max" as regular word instead of writing "Max.".
* Use generic "Set %s" for action name instead of a dedicated "Set target_position".
* Add translator comment for:
* "Inclusive" and "Self" in the profiler.
* Places where it needs the context about being an editor progress label.
* "Duplicated Animation Name" since it's refering to the new name of a duplicated animation.
* Disambiguation of "View Plane Transform", "Paste Selects" and "Display Normal".
* Fix wrong undo action name for renaming an input action.
* Fix missing end quote in a shader error message.
* In class reference:
* Fix duplicated "if" in the description of `signf()`.
* Fix mismatched example output in `String.operator %()`.
* Fix typo in the description of `Decal.texture_emission`.
* Unify description of `String.match()` and `StringName.match()`.
* Add API: `EditorFileSystem::reimport_append(path)`, thread safe, what can be used from importers when they generate new files within the import process.
* Added a `remap.gen_param` custom value to .import files, which can be used by importers to store data needed to generate this file again or not.
This API is added to allow the GLTF2 importer to properly extract png files as textures.
This option allows for a safe fallback for embedded gltf textures in cases where VRAM compression is not needed.
Add an is_editor_hint guard around GLTFHandleBinary::HANDLE_BINARY_EXTRACT_TEXTURES, to use EMBED_AS_UNCOMPRESSED by default at runtime.
This provides an option for pixel art to be stored losslessly.
Additionally, respect project importer defaults for texture import settings.
Avoid writing and reimporting extracted textures identical to version on disk.
* Only two texture import modes for low/high quality now:
* S3TC/BPTC
* ETC2/ASTC
* Makes sense given this is the general preferred and most compatible combination in most platforms.
* Removed lossy_quality from VRAM texture compression options. It was unused everywhere.
* Added a new "high_quality" option to texture import. When enabled, it uses BPTC/ASTC (BC7/ASTC4x4) instead of S3TC/ETC2 (DXT1-5/ETC2,ETCA).
* Changed MacOS export settings so required texture formats depend on the architecture selected.
This solves the following problems:
* Makes it simpler to import textures as high quality, without having to worry about the specific format used.
* As the editor can now run on platforms such as web, Mac OS with Apple Silicion and Android, it should no longer be assumed that S3TC/BPTC is available by default for it.
[ Ignore and Warn | Extract Textures (default) | Optimize Loading Embedded as Basisu ]
Enable compressed mip maps from Basis Universal for faster compressions.
Increase the quality of Basis to avoid corruption.
To keep compatibility use the first mip of the previous internal Godot format.
Because texture names may have invalid filename characters, adds String::validate_filename to sanitize filenames for import pipeline use.
Currently Godot tries to import any file with the extension "obj" as a
Wavefront OBJ model in text format.
This will fail and potentially crash the editor, if the obj file is
actually binary, like a MSVC build artifact/object file.
While the COFF header at the start of the obj file is subject to change,
this change should cover all potential/typical target machines possible
right now.
This fixes#71656.
This commit updates the obj importer to properly name imported meshes and
permits it to skip meshes that do not contain geometry. This fixes at
least one crash and several warnings and avoids unnecessary meshes being
generated when importing obj files that do not contain geometry that is
not assigned to a named object (such as when exporting from Blender).
* All core types masks are now correctly marked as bitfields.
* The enum hacks in MouseButtonMask and many other types are gone. This ensures that binders to other languages non C++ can actually implement type safe bitmasks.
* Most bitmask operations replaced by functions in BitField<>
* Key is still a problem because its enum and mask at the same time. While it kind of works in C++, this most likely can't be implemented safely in other languages and will have to be changed at some point. Mostly left as-is.
* Documentation and API dump updated to reflect bitfields in core types.
As many open source projects have started doing it, we're removing the
current year from the copyright notice, so that we don't need to bump
it every year.
It seems like only the first year of publication is technically
relevant for copyright notices, and even that seems to be something
that many companies stopped listing altogether (in a version controlled
codebase, the commits are a much better source of date of publication
than a hardcoded copyright statement).
We also now list Godot Engine contributors first as we're collectively
the current maintainers of the project, and we clarify that the
"exclusive" copyright of the co-founders covers the timespan before
opensourcing (their further contributions are included as part of Godot
Engine contributors).
Also fixed "cf." Frenchism - it's meant as "refer to / see".
Add support for font weight and stretch selection when using system fonts.
Add function to get system fallback font from a font name, style, text, and language code.
Implement system font support for Android.
Use system fonts as a last resort fallback.
Antialiasing cannot be adjusted on fonts rendered with MSDF.
Internally, Godot always uses grayscale antialiasing for those fonts.
This also tweaks property hints for consistency, and renames
uses of "sub-pixel" to the more commonly used "subpixel".
This improves the workflow for animations in a single timeline.
The users are no longer forced to slice one animation named "default".
Instead users can choose which animation(s) to break and how.
Changes:
- Remove slicing options from the animation player import menu
- Add such options to the animation import menu
- Rename clips to slices wherever was left
Fixes: #63840
Importers can export options conditional based on the resource path.
If an empty path is passed (as by the editor settings) filtering should not be done.
Android was the last platform to still attempt to disable RTTI (for binary
size), but both the Android editor and now the ICU library used by templates
need RTTI.
There could still be the possibility to support this for non-ICU template
builds (i.e. without the TextServerAdvanced module), but since this isn't one
of the build configurations we test regularly it's pretty risky to keep this
option only for that specific use case. And our code is already littered with
`dynamic_cast`s which weren't guarded with `!defined(NO_SAFE_CAST)`.
Using this command:
```
find -name "thirdparty" -prune -o -name "*.h" -exec sed -i {} -e '/return /! s/\t\([A-Za-z0-9_]* \*[A-Za-z0-9_]*\)\;/\t\1 = nullptr;/g' \;
```
And then reviewing the changes manually to discard the ones that don't
seem correct/safe/good (notably changes to `core` unions).
This allows light sources to be specified in physical light units in addition to the regular energy multiplier. In order to avoid loss of precision at high values, brightness values are premultiplied by an exposure normalization value.
In support of Physical Light Units this PR also renames CameraEffects to CameraAttributes.
`set_tooltip` -> `set_tooltip_text`
`get_tooltip` -> `get_tooltip_text`
For consistency:
`get_button_tooltip` -> `get_button_tooltip_text`
And the `tooltip` parameter in `add_button` was renamed to `tooltip_text`
Affects a lot of classes. Very thoroughly checked signal connections and deferred calls to this method, add_do_method/add_undo_method calls, and so on.
Also renames the internal `_update_callback()` to `_redraw_callback()` for consistency.
Just a few comments have also been changed to say "redraw".
In CPUParticles2D, there was a private variable with the same name. It has been renamed to `do_redraw`.
This reverts commit 4b817a565c.
Fixes#64988.
Fixes#64997.
This caused several regressions (#64988, #64997,
https://github.com/godotengine/godot/issues/64997#issuecomment-1229970605)
which point at a flaw in the current logic:
- `Control::NOTIFICATION_ENTER_TREE` triggers a *deferred* notification with
`NOTIFCATION_THEME_CHANGED` as introduced in #62845.
- Some classes use their `THEME_CHANGED` to cache theme items in
member variables (e.g. `style_normal`, etc.), and use those member
variables in `ENTER_TREE`, `READY`, `DRAW`, etc. Since the `THEME_CHANGE`
notification is now deferred, they end up accessing invalid state and this
can lead to not applying theme properly (e.g. for EditorHelp) or crashing
(e.g. for EditorLog or CodeEdit).
So we need to go back to the drawing board and see if `THEME_CHANGED` can be
called earlier so that the previous logic still works?
Or can we refactor all engine code to make sure that:
- `ENTER_TREE` and similar do not depend on theme properties cached in member
variables.
- Or `THEME_CHANGE` does trigger a general UI update to make sure that any
bad theme handling in `ENTER_TREE` and co. gets fixed when `THEME_CHANGE`
does arrive for the first time. But that means having a temporary invalid
(and possibly still crashing) state, and doing some computations twice
which might be heavy (e.g. `EditorHelp::_update_doc()`).
Based on #62896, only implements the BPM support part.
* Implements BPM support in the AudioStreamOGG/MP3 importers.
* Can select BPM/Bar Size and total beats in a song file, as well as edit looping points.
* Looping is now BPM aware
* Added a special importer UI for configuring this.
* Added a special preview showing the audio waveform as well as the playback position in the resource picker.
* Renamed `AudioStream::instance` to `instantiate` for correctness.
* Ensures thread safety when resources are destroyed.
* Simplified API by always forcing `ResourceCache::get_ref`, which needs less hacks and is fully thread safe.
* Removed RWLock for resources because its not possible to use for the new logic. Should not be a problem.
Supersedes #57533
This is done to prevent reducing texture quality when it doesn't save
much video memory, especially for pixel art.
The size threshold can be adjusted in the project settings.
To get the previous behavior where textures detected to be used in 3D
had their compression mode always set to VRAM, set this to the lowest value
(16).
* Map is unnecessary and inefficient in almost every case.
* Replaced by the new HashMap.
* Renamed Map to RBMap and Set to RBSet for cases that still make sense
(order matters) but use is discouraged.
There were very few cases where replacing by HashMap was undesired because
keeping the key order was intended.
I tried to keep those (as RBMap) as much as possible, but might have missed
some. Review appreciated!
Adds a new, cleaned up, HashMap implementation.
* Uses Robin Hood Hashing (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hash_table#Robin_Hood_hashing).
* Keeps elements in a double linked list for simpler, ordered, iteration.
* Allows keeping iterators for later use in removal (Unlike Map<>, it does not do much
for performance vs keeping the key, but helps replace old code).
* Uses a more modern C++ iterator API, deprecates the old one.
* Supports custom allocator (in case there is a wish to use a paged one).
This class aims to unify all the associative template usage and replace it by this one:
* Map<> (whereas key order does not matter, which is 99% of cases)
* HashMap<>
* OrderedHashMap<>
* OAHashMap<>
These typedefs don't save much typing compared to the full `Ref<Resource>`
and `Ref<RefCounted>`, yet they sometimes introduce confusion among
new contributors.
Didn't commit all the changes where it wants to initialize a struct
with `{}`. Should be reviewed in a separate PR.
Option `IgnoreArrays` enabled for now to be conservative, can be
disabled to see if it proposes more useful changes.
Also fixed manually a handful of other missing initializations / moved
some from constructors.
Convert method signature parameters to const where it is possible

HDRI panoramas designed for realistic lighting can have extremely
bright suns, causing fireflies to appear in the environment reflection
(in addition to making environment lighting too bright when a
DirectionalLight3D is used).
This uses the Filament tonemapping formula.
The new name contrasts it better with `find_parent`, and makes it clear
that it only matches child/descendant nodes.
Also rename `find_nodes` to `find_children` accordingly.
Add "generate_mipmap" font import option.
Add some missing features to the Sprite3D.
Move BiDi override code from Control to TextServer.
Add functions to access TextServer font cache textures.
Add MSDF related flags and shader to the standard material.
Change standard material cache to use HashMap instead of Vector.
- Display the source file path.
- Display the valid compression algorithms on desktop platforms.
- Use "desktop platforms" instead of "PC" to avoid ambiguity.
- Use "may" instead of "will", as desktop platforms can still sometimes
display ETC1/ETC2 textures depending on the GPU and drivers.
Added the ability to import scenes as AnimationLibrary
* Completes implementation of https://github.com/godotengine/godot-proposals/issues/4296
* Helps if you want to export animations to a separate file (say a GLTF) to avoid re-importing/exporting them every time the model changes.
* Helps if you simply want to have animations using a dummy model, which can be shared across multiple models.
Creates a secondary scene importer used only for animations.
**NOTE**: A new flag for scene importer: EditorSceneFormatImporter.IMPORT_DISCARD_MESHES_AND_MATERIALS has been added, to hint importers that they should skip meshes and animations (and hence make importing faster). It is not implemented in any importer yet, this should be done in a separate PR.
* Instead of containing single animations, AnimationPlayer now contains libraries.
* Libraries, in turn, contain the animations.
This paves the way for implementing the possibility of importing scenes as animation libraries, finally allowing to import animations separate from the 3D models.
Missing (will be done on separate PRs):
* Make it possible to import scenes (dae/fbx/gltf) as animation libraries.
* Make it possible for AnimationTree to import animation libraries on its own, so it does not rely on AnimationPlayer for everything.
This pull request resolves an issue where images being imported with lossless compression allowed you to select a normal map, but the normal map only applies if you're using VRAM compression. Thereby making it redundant to appear when using lossless compression. This pull request hides the normal map option when lossless compression is selected.
Resolves: #59435
The new `edit/loop_mode` import options lets user choose to either:
- Detect loop points from the WAV (default, same behavior as before)
- Set the loop mode and loop points manually like in AudioStreamSample
