Fix Unicode URL link tags to render correctly.
Change incorrect `
` closing tags to `` tags.

The `url` tags for the links to the Unicode code points information use `
` rather than `` to close them.

This results in the links being rendered incorrectly in the IDE--the entire rest of the documentation for each method gets turned into a giant underlined link.

This issue was introduced in a2271ba3bd.

Add high quality glow mode
This backports the high quality glow mode from the `master` branch.

Previously, during downsample, every second row was ignored.
Now, when high-quality is used, we sample two rows at once to ensure
that no pixel is missed. It is slower, but looks much better and has
a much high stability while moving.

High quality also takes an additional horizontal sample the width of the
horizontal blur matches the height of the vertical blur.

PouleyKetchoupp da159cd258 Fix 3D moving platform logic
Same thing that was already done in 2D, applies moving platform motion
by using a call to move_and_collide that excludes the platform itself,
instead of making it part of the body motion.

Helps with handling walls and slopes correctly when the character walks
on the moving platform.

Also made some minor adjustments to the 2D version and documentation.

PouleyKetchoupp f101349225 Fix applied rotation from moving platforms in move_and_slide
When synchronizing KinematicBody motion with moving the platform using
direct body state, only the linear velocity was taken into account.

This change exposes velocity at local point in direct body state and
uses it in move_and_slide to get the proper velocity that includes
rotations.

Pedro J. Estébanez 31a0ca2cac Add project setting for agile input event flushing
If enabled, key/touch/joystick events will be flushed just before every idle and physics frame.

Enabling this can greatly improve the responsiveness to input, specially in devices that need to run multiple physics frames per each idle frame, because of not being powerful enough to run at the target frame rate.

This will only work for platforms using input buffering (regardless event accumulation). Currenly, only Android does so, but could be implemented for iOS in an upcoming PR.

Omar El Sheikh d274284069 Octahedral Normal/Tangent Compression
Implement Octahedral Compression for normal/tangent vectors
*Oct32 for uncompressed vectors
*Oct16 for compressed vectors

Reduces vertex size for each attribute by
*Uncompressed: 12 bytes, vec4<float32> -> vec2<unorm16>
*Compressed: 2 bytes, vec4<unorm8> -> vec2<unorm8>

Binormal sign is encoded in the y coordinate of the encoded tangent

Added conversion functions to go from octahedral mapping to cartesian
for normal and tangent vectors

sprite_3d and soft_body meshes write to their vertex buffer memory
directly and need to convert their normals and tangents to the new oct
format before writing

Created a new mesh flag to specify whether a mesh is using octahedral
compression or not
Updated documentation to discuss new flag/defaults

Created shader flags to specify whether octahedral or cartesian vectors
are being used

Updated importers to use octahedral representation as the default format
for importing meshes

Updated ShaderGLES2 to support 64 bit version codes as we hit the limit
of the 32-bit integer that was previously used as a bitset to store
enabled/disabled flags

EricEzaM 0e5c6e0d55 Allow checking for exact matches with Action events.
Added additional param to action related methods to test for exactness.
If "p_exact_match" is true, then the action will only be "matched" if the provided input event *exactly* matches with the action event.

Before:
* Action Event = KEY_S
* Input Event = KEY_CONTROL + KEY_S
* Is Action Pressed = True

Now:
You can still do the above, however you can optionally check that the input is exactly what the action event is:
* Action Event = KEY_S
* Input Event = KEY_CONTROL + KEY_S
* p_exact_match = True
* Is Action Pressed = False
* If the Input Event was only KEY_S, then the result would be true.

Usage:

```gdscript
Input.is_action_pressed(action_name: String, exact_match: bool)
Input.is_action_pressed("my_action", true)
InputMap.event_is_action(p_event, "my_action", true)
func _input(event: InputEvent):
  event.is_action_pressed("my_action", false, true) # false = "allow_echo", true = "exact_match"
  event.is_action("my_action", true)
```

lawnjelly d0ba355520 Portals - add autoplace priority setting to CullInstance
The default autoplace algorithm places instances in the highest priority Room. It became apparent that there are some situations in which users will want to override this and force placement in a Room from a particular RoomGroup, especially an "outside" RoomGroup.

This setting allows the user to specify a preference for Room priority. When set to 0, the setting is ignored and the highest priority Room is chosen.

Add a property to control the bounce indirect energy in BakedLightmap
Higher values will make indirect lighting brighter.
A value of 1.0 represents physically accurate behavior, but higher values
can be used to make indirect lighting propagate more visibly when using
a low number of bounces.

This can be used to speed up bake times by lowering the number of bounces
then increasing the bounce indirect energy. Unlike BakedLightmapData's
energy property, this property does not affect direct lighting
emitted by light nodes or emissive materials.

lawnjelly 93557927e4 Add option to sync frame delta after draw
Investigations have showed that a lot of the random variation in frame deltas causing glitches may be due to sampling the time at the wrong place in the game loop.

Although sampling at the start of Main::Iteration makes logical sense, the most consistent deltas may be better measured after the location likely to block at vsync - either the OpenGL draw commands or the SwapBuffers.

Here we add an experimental setting to allow syncing after the OpenGL draw section of Main::Iteration.

Frame deltas are currently measured by querying the OS timer each frame. This is subject to random error. Frame delta smoothing instead filters the delta read from the OS by replacing it with the refresh rate delta wherever possible.

This PR also contains code to estimate the refresh rate based on the input deltas, without reading the refresh rate from the host OS.

PouleyKetchoupp 240c33708c Options to clean/simplify convex hull generated from mesh
Clean: remove duplicate and interior vertices (uses Bullet algorithm)
Simplify: modify the geometry for further simplification (uses VHACD
algorithm)

In the editor, single convex hull now uses the clean option.
Added a new editor entry to create a simplified convex hull, can be
useful for creating convex hull from highly tessellated triangle meshes.

Specific change for 3.x:
Add support for Vector<Vector3> and PoolVector<Vector3> in the convex hull generator.

NodePath properly updated in the editor in more cases
Fix more cases of node path needing an update when nodes are renamed or
moved in the editor.

Built-in node properties:
Before, node paths were checked only for script export variables. Now
all properties are checked from the node, which includes built-in node
properties.
Allows proper node path updates for nodes like remote transform, physics
joints, etc.

Arrays and dictionaries:
Node paths nested in array and dictionary properties are now also
updated in the editor.

Also update the documentation to be clear about node path update in the
editor and at runtime.

Allow a top and bottom radius equal to 0 in CylinderMesh
The CylinderMesh generation code handles this special case and
avoids generating the top and bottom faces if their radius is equal
to 0. This improves performance by reducing the number of vertices
to draw.

If both values are set to 0, nothing will be visible but the mesh
generation will still succeed.

This also improves the CylinderMesh class documentation.

Add support for contrast-adaptive sharpening in 3D (GLES3 only)
This is an older, easier to implement variant of CAS as a pure
fragment shader. It doesn't support upscaling, but we won't make
use of it (at least for now).

The sharpening intensity can be adjusted on a per-Viewport basis.
For the root viewport, it can be adjusted in the Project Settings.

Since `textureLodOffset()` isn't available in GLES2, there is no
way to support contrast-adaptive sharpening in GLES2.

This commits adds a new emitter type for particles material
and 3D CPU particles. The new emitter is called "ring"
and it can emit either in a ring or cylinder fashion.
This adds the following properties for the emitter:
1. ring_emitter_axis: the axis along which the ring/cylinder
    will be constructed
2. ring_emitter_radius: outer radius of the ring/cylinder
3. ring_emitter_inner_radius: inner radius of the cylinder.
    when set to zero, particles will emit in the full volume.
4. ring_emitter_height: height of the ring/cylinder emitter.

- Fix objects with no material being considered as fully transparent by the lightmapper.
- Added "environment_min_light" property: gives artistic control over the shadow color.
- Fixed "Custom Color" environment mode, it was ignored before.
- Added "interior" property to BakedLightmapData: controls whether dynamic capture objects receive environment light or not.
- Automatically update dynamic capture objects when the capture data changes (also works for "energy" which used to require object movement to trigger the update).
- Added "use_in_baked_light" property to GridMap: controls whether the GridMap will be included in BakedLightmap bakes.
- Set "flush zero" and "denormal zero" mode for SSE2 instructions in the Embree raycaster. According to Embree docs it should give a performance improvement.

lawnjelly b1e24597e7 Renaming rendering/2d project settings.
The rendering/quality/2d section of project settings is becoming considerably expanded in 3.2.4, and arguably was not the correct place for settings that were not really to do with quality.

3.2.4 is the last sensible opportunity we will have to move these settings, as the only existing one likely to break compatibility in a small way is `pixel_snap`, and given that the whole snapping area is being overhauled we can draw attention to the fact it has changed in the release notes.

Class reference is also updated and slightly improved.

`pixel_snap` is renamed to `gpu_pixel_snap` in the project settings and code to help differentiate from CPU side transform snapping.

Antialiasing is not supported for batched polys. Currently due to the fallback mechanism, skinned antialiased polys will be rendered without applying animation.

This PR simply treats such polys as if antialiasing had not been selected. The class reference is updated to reflect this.

This suppresses the blocky shadow appearance, bringing the shadow rendering
much closer to GLES3. This soft filter is more demanding as it requires
more lookups, but it makes PCF13 shadows more usable.

Clarify EditorImportPlugin.get_visible_name.
According to the docs at
https://docs.godotengine.org/en/stable/tutorials/plugins/editor/import_plugins.html#the-editorimportplugin-class

> The get_visible_name() method is responsible for returning the name of
> the type it imports and it will be shown to the user in the Import dock.
> You should choose this name as a continuation to "Import as", e.g.
> "Import as Silly Material"

I've verified Godot's behavior reflects this, so the code examples
should reflect this.

Also document propagating save error in EditorImportPlugin.

It seems that the suggested code ignores any error from
`ResourceSaver.save`, but I think we should return it.

Pedro J. Estébanez 745c711289 Implement pause-aware picking
This adds a new project setting (`physics/common/enable_pause_aware_picking`). It's disabled by default.

When enabled, it changes the way 2D & 3D physics picking behaves in relation to pause:
- When pause is set, every collision object that is hovered or captured (3D only) is released from that condition, getting the relevant mouse-exit callback., unless its pause mode makes it immune from pause.
- During the pause. picking only considers collision objects immune from pause, sending input events and enter/exit callbacks to them as expected.
- When pause is left, nothing happens. This is a big difference with the classic behavior, which at this point would process all the input events that have been queued against the current state of the 2D/3D world (in other words, checking them against the current position of the objects instead of those at the time of the events).

play position and total length of current animation state. These methods are currently
used in the editor plugin, but can also be useful for querying general playback state
information.

Added documentation for AnimationNodeStateMachinePlayback's `get_current_play_position`

ProximityGroup: Fix access modifiers, rename private methods for clarity
See #36285 which mistakenly added documentation for the whole C++ API, while
some of it is meant to be and stay private as it's not exposed to scripts.
The access modifiers and method prefix were not used properly.

Cleanup code, and rename wrong `group_name` parameters to `method`, as it's a
method name which is being broadcast.

This is a very old class from pre-open source days, chances are that it was
just forgotten and not meant to be kept as is and undocumented.

Theogen Ratkin 8f6a6ac8d0 Add interpolation parameter to resize_to_po2()
Image::resize_to_po2() now takes an optional p_interpolation parameter
that it passes directly to resize() with default value INTERPOLATE_BILINEAR.

GLES2: call resize_to_po2() with interpolate argument

Call resize_to_po2() in GLES2 rasterizer storage with either
INTERPOLATE_BILINEAR or INTERPOLATE_NEAREST depending on TEXTURE_FLAG_FILTER.

This avoids filtering issues with non power of two pixel art textures.

It can be enabled in the Project Settings

lawnjelly 667c970b77 Optimize octree and fix octree leak
Prevents adding new octants until a limiting number of elements have been added to the current octant. This enables balancing the benefits of brute force against the benefits of spatial partitioning. The limit can be set per octree.

Project settings are added for rendering octree to set the best balance per project depending on number of tests per frame / tick, and the amount of editing of the octree.

Fixes octants being leaked when removing elements.

Optimize octree with cached linear lists

Storing elements in octants using linked lists is efficient for housekeeping but very slow for testing. This optimization stores additional local_vectors with Element pointers and AABBs which are cached and only updated when a dirty flag is set on the octant.

This is selectable with 2 versions of Octree : Octree and Octree_CL, Octree being the old behaviour. At present the cached list version is only used for the visual server octree (rendering) as it has only been demonstrated to be faster there so far.

This uses slightly more memory (probably a few kb in most cases) but can be significantly faster during testing (culling etc).

It took me a bit to figure this out, as I was initially doing something
more complicated like this before I realized I just had to pass
get_mesh_arrays directly to add_surface_from_arrays.

```
var arr_mesh = ArrayMesh.new()
var arrays = []
arrays.resize(ArrayMesh.ARRAY_MAX)
arrays[ArrayMesh.ARRAY_VERTEX] = c.get_mesh_arrays()
arr_mesh.add_surface_from_arrays(Mesh.PRIMITIVE_TRIANGLES, arrays)
PouleyKetchoupp c0b394572f Fix Return key events in LineEdit & TextEdit on Android
Depending on the device implementation, editor actions could be
received with different action ids or not at all for multi-line.
Added a parameter to virtual keyboards to properly handle single-line
and multi-line cases in all situations.
Single-line:
Input type set to text without multiline to make sure actions are sent.
IME options are set to DONE action to force action id consistency.
Multi-line:
Input type set to text and multiline to make sure enter triggers new lines.
Actions are disabled by the multiline flag, so '\n' characters are
handled in text changed callbacks.
Rémi Verschelde 8ac13e50cf Move Haiku platform port to external repository
The Haiku port now resides at:
https://github.com/godotengine/godot-haiku-platform
While we're happy to support as many Free and Open Source platforms as we can,
we need to put the main focus on the platforms that we can reasonably maintain,
and for Haiku we have been lacking maintainers ever since the port was first
merged in 2015.
The Haiku code has not been compiling and much less working at least since the
release of Godot 3.0, and while some attempts have been made at fixing things,
it's still not functional today in the `3.2` branch (and much less in `master`,
understandably).
Having it in an external repository should hopefully enable Haiku contributors
to fix issues in their own time, and possibly tag versions compatible with
past Godot releases once they are ready.
The Image.create_from_data doc describes the "use_mipmaps" argument as a
This can cause confusion, where this function reads more or less data
is loading the mipmaps from the raw data.
Rémi Verschelde 7bf9787921 SCons: Format buildsystem files with psf/black
Configured for a max line length of 120 characters.
psf/black is very opinionated and purposely doesn't leave much room for
configuration. The output is mostly OK so that should be fine for us,
but some things worth noting:
- Manually wrapped strings will be reflowed, so by using a line length
  of 120 for the sake of preserving readability for our long command
  calls, it also means that some manually wrapped strings are back on
  the same line and should be manually merged again.
- Code generators using string concatenation extensively look awful,
  since black puts each operand on a single line. We need to refactor
  these generators to use more pythonic string formatting, for which
  many options are available (`%`, `format` or f-strings).
- CI checks and a pre-commit hook will be added to ensure that future
  buildsystem changes are well-formatted.
`get_char_size()` is a public virtual function defined in the `Font`
However, it was only exposed to the GDScript API through the Bitmap
lawnjelly 451c3fc0fb GLES2 2D batching - item reordering, light joining and light modulate fix
Although 2D draws in painters order with strict ordering, in certain circumstances items can be reordered to increase batching / decrease state changes, without affecting the end result. This can be determined by an overlap test.
In situation with item:
A-B-A
providing the third item does not overlap the second, they can be reordered:
A-A-B
Items already contain an AABB which can be used for this overlap test.
1)
To utilise this, I have implemented item reordering (only for single rects for now), with the lookahead adjustable in project settings. This can increase performance in situations where items may not be grouped in the scene tree by texture. It can also be switched off (by setting lookahead to 0).
2)
This same trick can be used to help join items that are lit. Lit items previously would prevent joining completely, thus missing out on performance gains other than multi-command items such as tilemaps.
In this PR, lights are assigned as bits in a bitfield (up to 64, the optimization is disabled above this), and on each try_item (for joining), the bitfield for lights and shadows is constructed and compared with the previous items. If these match the 2 items can potentially be joined. However, this can only be done without changing the rendered result if an overlap test is successful.
This overlap test can be adjusted to join items up to a specific number of item references, selectable in project settings, or turned off.
3)
The legacy uniform single rect drawing routine seems to have been identified as the source of flicker, particularly on nvidia. However, it can also be up to 2x as fast. Because of the speed the batching contains a fallback where it can use the legacy single rect method, but I have now added a project setting to make this switchable. In most cases with batching it should not be necessary (as single rects are drawn less frequently) and thus the flickering can be totally avoided.
4)
This PR also fixes a color modulate bug when drawing light passes, in certain situations (particularly custom _draw routines with multiple rects).
5)
This PR also fixes #38291, a bug in the legacy renderer where light passes could draw rects in wrong position.
lawnjelly 45b0b8bff8 GLES2 2d Batch rendering (across items)
2d rendering is currently bottlenecked by drawing primitives one at a time, limiting OpenGL efficiency. This PR batches primitives and renders in fewer drawcalls, resulting in significant performance improvements. This also speeds up text rendering.
This PR batches across canvas items as well as within items.
The code dynamically chooses between a vertex format with and without color, depending on the input data for a frame, in order to optimize throughput and maximize batch size. It also adds an option to use glScissor to reduce fillrate in light passes.
