They should now allocate memory in blocks and reuse the same
memory every time the item is cleared and redrawn.
This should improve performance considerably.

af9bb0ea15 fixed AudioServer's
`get_output_delay()` (which used to always return 0) while renaming it
to `get_output_latency()`. It now returns the latency from the
AudioDriver, which can be non-0.
While this was a clear bugfix, it broke playback for WebM files without
audio track. It seems like the playback code, even though it queried
the output delay to calculate a time compensation, was designed to work
even though the delay value was actually bogus. Now that it's correct,
it's not working.
As a workaround we comment out uses of the output latency, restoring
the behavior of Godot 3.1.
This code should still be reviewed by someone more versed in video
playback and fixed to properly account for the non-0 driver latency.

The viewport_size returned by get_viewport_size was previously incorrect, being half the correct value. The function is renamed to get_viewport_half_extents, and now returns a Vector2.
Code which called this function has also been modified accordingly.
This PR also fixes shadow culling when using ortho cameras, because the correct input for CameraMatrix::set_orthogonal should be the full HEIGHT from get_viewport_half_extents, and not half the width.
It also fixes state.ubo_data.viewport_size in rasterizer_scene_gles3.cpp to be the width and the height of the viewport in pixels as stated in the documentation, rather than the current value which is half the viewport extents in worldspace, presumed to be a bug.

and open source game engine, and tons of further improvements in the
pipeline from hundreds of contributors.

Prior to this fix, AudioEffectRecordInstance::init() was called before recording_active is set to true in AudioEffectRecord::set_recording_active(). This was setting is_recording to false in AudioEffectRecordInstance, because is_recording updates to the value of recording_active in AudioEffectRecordInstance::_io_thread_process(). To fix this issue, AudioEffectRecordInstance::init() is now called after recording_active is set to true.
Polygon2D:
The property wasn't used anymore after switching from canvas_item_add_polygon() to canvas_item_add_triangle_array() for drawing.
Line2D:
Added the same property as for Polygon2D & fixed smooth line drawing to use indices correctly.

The list of allowed shader types is now displayed if any
`shader_type`-related error is emitted.
This makes it easier to remember which shader types are allowed
when creating a new shader.
Implemented uniform API in Viewport class to override 2D and/or
3D camera.
Added buttons in 2D and 3D editor viewport toolbars that override
the running game camera transform with the editor viewport camera
transform. Implemented via remote debugger protocol and camera
override API.
Removed LiveEditFuncs function pointers from ScriptDebugger class.
Since the debugger got access to the SceneTree instance (if one
exists), there is no need to store the function pointers. The live
edit functions in SceneTree are used directly instead. Also removed
the static version of live edit functions in SceneTree for the same
reason. This reduced the SceneTree -> Debugger coupling too since
the function pointers don't need to be set from SceneTree anymore.
Moved script_debugger_remote.h/cpp from 'core/' to 'scene/debugger/'.
This is because the remote debugger is now using SceneTree directly
and 'core/' classes should not depend on 'scene/' classes.
In 2.1 and 3.0, light_vec could be modified for altering shadow_computations.
But it broke shadows when rotating light. shadow_vec would do the same, but without breaking
shadows in rotated lights if not used.
Add inverse light transformation to shadow vec, so it's not affected when rotating lights;
Added usage define for shadow vec.
For shadow vec working properly when rotating a light, it's needed to multiply it by light_matrix normalized. Added usage define in order to don't do that if shadow_vec not used.
For clarity, assign-to-release idiom for PoolVector::Read/Write
replaced with a function call.

When closing the game, we flush the command queue but after we are pushing the freeing calls of the id pool to the
command queue and they are never being run. Now we free them directly.
This is a new singleton where camera sources such as webcams or cameras on a mobile phone can register themselves with the Server.
Other parts of Godot can interact with this to obtain images from the camera as textures.
This work includes additions to the Visual Server to use this functionality to present the camera image in the background. This is specifically targetted at AR applications.
It's not necessary, but the vast majority of calls of error macros
do have an ending semicolon, so it's best to be consistent.
Most WARN_DEPRECATED calls did *not* have a semicolon, but there's
no reason for them to be treated differently.
GLSL allows the construction of larger data types by swizzling smaller
ones, but Godot shading language treated this as an error:

vec3 test3 = test2.xxx; // error: Invalid member for vec2 expression
This commit updates the expression parser for the 2 and 3-component data
types accordingly.

Reasoning: ID is not an acronym, it is simply short for identification, so it logically should not be capitalized. But even if it was an acronym, other acronyms in Godot are not capitalized, like p_rid, p_ip, and p_json.
Adds the ability to directly add disabled shapes to a collision object. Before this commit a shape has always been assumed to be enabled and had to be disabled in an extra step.
The bake mode property of lights previously didn't affect GI probes.
This change makes the GI probe ignore lights that have their bake mode
set to disabled.
Made AudioFrame and Vector2 equivalent for casting.
Added ability to obtain the playback object from stream players.
Added ability to obtain effect instance from audio server.
It seems to stay compatible with formatting done by clang-format 6.0 and 7.0,
so contributors can keep using those versions for now (they will not undo those
changes).
With this change finally one can use compound collisions (like those created
by Gridmaps) without serious performance issues. The previous KinematicBody
code for Bullet was practically doing a whole bunch of unnecessary
calculations. Gridmaps with fairly large octant sizes (in my case 32) can get
up to 10000x speedup with this change (literally!). I expect the FPS demo to
get a fair speedup as well.
List of fixes and improvements:
- Fixed a general bug in move_and_slide that affects both GodotPhysics and
Bullet, where ray shapes would be ignored unless the stop_on_slope parameter
is disabled. Not sure where that came from, but looking at the 2D physics
code it was obvious there's a difference.
- Enabled the dynamic AABB tree that Bullet uses to allow broadphase collision
tests against individual shapes of compound shapes. This is crucial to get
good performance with Gridmaps and in general improves the performance
whenever a KinematicBody collides with compound collision shapes.
- Added code to the broadphase collision detection code used by the Bullet
module for KinematicBodies to also do broadphase on the sub-shapes of
compound collision shapes. This is possible thanks to the dynamic AABB
tree that was previously disabled and it's the change that provides the
biggest performance boost.
- Now broadphase test is only done once per KinematicBody in Bullet instead of
once per each of its shapes which was completely unnecessary.
- Fixed the way how the ray separation results are populated in Bullet which
was completely broken previously, overwriting previous results and similar
non-sense.
- Fixed ray shapes for good now. Previously the margin set in the editor was
not respected at all, and the KinematicBody code for ray separation was
complete bogus, thus all previous attempts to fix it were mislead.
- Fixed an obvious bug also in GodotPhysics where an out-of-bounds index was
used in the ray result array.
There are a whole set of other problems with the KinematicBody code of Bullet
which cost performance and may cause unexpected behavior, but those are not
addressed in this change (need to keep it "simple").
Not sure whether this fixes any outstanding Github issues but I wouldn't be
surprised.
There was a bug that could result in most bone aabb boxes ending up with
tiny size upon import and mess up with culling of skeletal meshes. This
fixes it.
- Texture arrays and 3D textures weren't working previously due to an
incorrect number of calls to glTexImage3D with incorrect level parameters.
This change fixes that.
- Fixed the incorrect calculation of the byte size of layered textures.
- Added the layer count to the debugger info when viewing video memory usage.
CLAMP limits the value between the two bounds, so for unsigned ints
it should be replaced by MIN(val, max), not MAX.
The issue in voxel_light_baker.cpp was fixed in 4f697f7.

This allows most demos to run without any ubsan or asan errors. There
are still some things in thirdpart/ and some things in AudioServer that
needs a look but this fixes a lot of issues. This should help debug less
obvious issues, hopefully.

test if issues are specific to Bullet or not, so we keep it around for
the time being.
Remove animation loop from ParticlesMaterial and move it to
SpatialMaterial for 3D particles and Particles2D for the 2D case.
Added animation to CPUParticles2D as well as the "Convert to
CPUParticles2D" to the PAarticles2D menu.
Initialise keep_original_textures and use_fast_texture_filter in storage
config. Removed any other variables from storage config that were both unused
and uninitialised to avoid future confusion (if they're needed it's
easier to spot an uninitialised variable problem in a PR that adds the
variable again rather than just uses it).
Copied storage Texture struct constructor from GLES3 implementation
(except where variables were already initialised with different values).
Gives us sensible tested defaults for previously uninitialised vars.
Added assignments for state.current_main_tex based on same in GLES3.
Non-monitorable areas are never removed from the monitor query of other areas. This makes areas that turn not
monitorable while overlapping with other areas get stuck in the other areas' monitor query and trigger false
overlaps.

Passing an element reference of a vector to a push_back call to
that same vector can cause an access after free. This is because push_back
will resize the vector, reallocating if necessary, leaving the reference
referring to the freed memory.
Removed an instance of this usage here.
This allows more consistency in the manner we include core headers,
where previously there would be a mix of absolute, relative and
include path-dependent includes.
New APIs in 2D physics allow intersection queries filtered by CanvasLayer object instance id. Viewport keep an inventory of its descendant CanvasLayers and takes advantage of all that to test picking with the mouse/touch position correctly transformed for each CanvasLayer.
The margin value is exposed into the UI for shape ressource.
This value can be modified through set_margin and get from get_margin
or by using the property margin. Each time the margin is modified
the associated collision shape is recreated and the margin value is
used in ShapeBullet::prepare.
For debug purposes the boolean whether the recording is active or not were an editor property.
It has been removed to avoid users leaving it on true on close, causing it to be saved in the default_bus_layout

Implements an Audio bus effect that outputs the audio from the bus into a wav file
Now channels audio recording into an AudioStreamSample instead of saving to wav
This commit makes operator[] on Vector const and adds a write proxy to it. From
now on writes to Vectors need to happen through the .write proxy. So for
instance:

Failing to use the .write proxy will cause a compilation error.
In addition COWable datatypes can now embed a CowData pointer to their data.
This means that String, CharString, and VMap no longer use or derive from
Vector.
_ALWAYS_INLINE_ and _FORCE_INLINE_ are now equivalent for debug and non-debug
builds. This is a lot faster for Vector in the editor and while running tests.
The reason why this difference used to exist is because force-inlined methods
used to give a bad debugging experience. After extensive testing with modern
compilers this is no longer the case.

When the viewport's size.y becomes lower than 2, the storage->frame.current_rt->effects.mip_maps[0].sizes Vector during rendering becomes empty, resulting in crashes in at least GLES3. This is a temporary fix to stop rendering a viewport when its size is below 2 rather than below 1.
The rasterisers (both GLES3 and GLES2) were calculating their own frame delta time
This fix lets the rasterizers get the frame delta through the draw call
That way any regulations to the frame step from the main script will not cause particle systems to process at a different step than the rest of the Engine.
Remove unused rasterizer storage variable
frame.prev_tick variable were not used anywhere and has been removed
Physics2DDirectSpaceStateSW was applying the result limit to broadphase
collision detection instead of narrow. This is inconsistent with its 3D
variant, as well as the rest of the 2D direct space state functions.
Broadphase is now limited by INTERSECTION_QUERY_MAX like everything else,
and narrow phase is exited early when the result limit has been reached.
Fixes reported logically dead codes by Coverity

These happen most of the time (in our code) when instanciating structs
without a constructor (or with an incomplete one), and later returning
the instance. This is sometimes intended though, as some parameters are
only used in some situations and should not be double-initialized for
performance reasons (e.g. `constant` in ShaderLanguage::Token).
When `p_points.size() > p_colors.size()`, it crashed with invalid
array access to `p_colors`. Also, when `p_colors` was an empty
`Vector` it crashed due a missing `else` checking the `size`
condition, as the code handling that special case exists.
This PR fixes the missing `else` for `p_colors.size == 0` and,
following the `canvas_item_add_multiline` spirit, it only uses the
first color for the whole polyline if points and colors differ in
size.
Fix#17621.

This is a bullet wrapper that allows Godot to use Bullet physics and benefit about all features.
Also it support all specific Godot physics functionality like multi shape body, areas, RayShape, etc..
It improve the Joints, Trimesh shape, and add support to soft body even if Godot is not yet ready to it.
Schlick's approximation and GGX are orthogonal concepts.
Furthermore, it's usage so far has been inconsistent: we don't even use it with anisotropic SchlickGGX, and Burley (Disney) diffuse does use it while its name doesn't indicate it.
The use of Schlick's approximation in Burley and GGX is an implementation detail and doesn't need to be reflected to the namig.
The point is that `RayCast`s are checked against objects' `collision_layer`(s), but they themselves are considered no to _belong_ to any layer. Therefore, the correct name for their property is `collision_mask`, rather than `collision_layer`.
Only renaming is needed since the behavior was already the right one, only that it wasn't matching what users would expect from the name and description of the property.
Fixes#7589, where it's also discussed.
This field represents if the class is exposed to the scripting API.
The value is 'true' if the class was registered manually ('ClassDB::register_*class()'), otherwise it's false (registered on '_post_initialize').
- Added missing registration of classes that are meant to be exposed.
Rename user facing methods and variables as well as the corresponding
C++ methods according to the folloming changes:
* pos -> position
* rot -> rotation
* loc -> location
C++ variables are left as is.
Since joint resources are created by joint nodes and also they take care of freeing them, the physics server doesn't need to free bodies' joints explicitly.
The logic for clearing the constraints map/set is still relevant as there may be collision pairs and in their case its the server itself the one creating them and therefore releasing them.
Using gprof I found the engine spending 10 - 20% of time in the
_render_canvas_item_tree function. The function profiles as using
about 0.09ms. Swapping the loop with two memset() calls reduces
the time spent in this function a lot, and the time per call to
about 0.02ms.
Likewise the render_canvas function was using ~10% of time, replacing
the loop there dropped per-call time from 0.22ms to 0.18ms.

Currently we rely on some undefined behavior when Object->cast_to() gets
called with a Null pointer. This used to work fine with GCC < 6 but
newer versions of GCC remove all codepaths in which the this pointer is
Null. However, the non-static cast_to() was supposed to be null safe.
This patch makes cast_to() Null safe and removes the now redundant Null
checks where they existed.

This is a continuation of an on-going work for 64-bit floating point builds, started in PR #7528. Covers physics, physics/joints and physics_2d code.
Also removed matrixToEulerXYZ function in favor of Basis::get_euler.
Made sure files in core/ and tools/ have a proper Godot license header
when written by us. Also renamed aabb.{cpp,h} and object_type_db.{cpp,h}
to rect3.{cpp,h} and class_db.{cpp,h} respectively.
Also added a proper header to core/io/base64.{c,h} after clarifying
the licensing with the original author (public domain).
This is the follow up for the 2D changes mentioned in PR #6865. It fixes various mistakes regarding the order of matrix indices, order of transformation operations, usage of atan2 function and ensures that the sense of rotation is compatible with a left-handed coordinate system with Y-axis pointing down (which flips the sense of rotations along the z-axis). Also replaced float with real_t, and tried to make use of Matrix32 methods rather than accessing its elements directly.
Affected code in the Godot code base is also fixed in this commit.
The user code using functions involving angles such as atan2, angle_to, get_rotation, set_rotation will need to be updated to conform with the new behavior. Furthermore, the sign of the rotation angles in existing 2D scene files need to be flipped as well.

You can't set this value very well, since it's automatically computed
from the mass and the collision shapes. But since the values are higher
than many people might suspect, so being able to read it helps estimate
the amount of torque you might need to apply.
All classes were reviewed apart from VisualServer for which no argument name is documented at all.
While doing this review, I found quite a few bugs that were fixed either in earlier commits or this one (mostly documentation bugs though, i.e. some arguments were listed at the wrong place).

The KinematicBody::can_move_to function was likely designed for two behaviours:
- discrete: check if the body can "teleport" to the destination
- continuous: check if the direct path to the destination is valid
The continuous behaviour was however not implemented, and the discrete behaviour was broken too due to a wrong call to intersect_shape.
The discrete behaviour has thus been fixed and the function renamed to can_teleport_to for more clarity.

Added support for 2D shadow casters.
*DANGER* Shaders in CanvasItem CHANGED, if you are using shader in a
CanvasItem and pull this, you will lose them. Shaders now work through a
2D material system similar to 3D. If you don't want to lose the 2D
shader code, save the shader as a .shd, then create a material in
CanvasItem and re-assign the shader.
I could reproduce the crash described in #1284 only with 32bits versions of godot.
The test scene contains a Plane collision shape, and a kinematicsbody with a Sphere collision shape.
The crash occurs into `CollisionSolverSW::solve_distance_plane()` on line 299 when `p_shape_A` is a `PlaneShapeSW` object and when `p_shape_B` is a `MotionShapeSW` object, because `int support_count;` is not initialized by default, and because `MotionShapeSW::get_supports()` does not change `support_count` once passed as referenced parameter, and if the default value of `support_count` is greater than the length of `supports[16]`.
I don't know if it is the good way to fix it because i'm not skilled ennough with the physics server inner working, but this fix prevents the crash and the test-scene seems to work correctly.
